Intestinal function is impaired in patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Much appreciation to the COPD patients in the Brazos Valley who have participated in this study. As many of you who have been with me know, we have been collaborating in COPD as well as OSA research for years now. While my name has appeared on many of our published studies, as on this one, be aware that my name is but a representation for all of yours. I am proud that so many in the Brazos Valley have embraced our research initiative. While being a participant in a research study may not directly help a participant, the information gained allows us to build the foundation for disease understanding, diagnostics, and treatments that may help your neighbor, a stranger, or the younger generation. That's the kind of community spirit--an awareness of your impact on others without the expectation of immediate benefit to self--that makes our Brazos Valley a special place to live, work and to be joyous.
