Why weight matters when it comes to joint pain - Harvard Health

For every 10 lbs of weight gain, your leg joints like the knees experience about 30 lbs of force when climbing stairs and when bending or kneeling such as to tie your shoelaces. The inverse relationship is true, for every 10 lbs lost, the leg joints are offloaded 30 lbs of like activity force. A little has a great effect--gaining or losing. #getupandgo
