Mass resignation guts board of prestigious Cochrane Collaboration

Interesting and concerning commentary on governance and conflict. Being dismissed from a governing board because you are perceived as "disloyal" doesn't say much in itself. The salient question is, "Is this person interested in the betterment of the organization?" The comments of a board member may differ from others, but if the overall interest of that member is to improve the organization (and not to willfully harm), then there should be a place for debate of the comments/ideas. The risk of all board members being "team players" is that of group think. Dichotomously categorizing as either on the team or off the team is limiting. Peer pressure is tremendous--even on governing boards--and works to undermine the unique value each member may contribute.
