Hiatal hernia surgery: Procedure, recovery, and outlook

Consider an evaluation for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) if you have frequent heart burn, reflux or a hiatal hernia. In my practice, most with a hiatal hernia also have OSA. My hypothesis is that OSA is predisposing for esophageal reflux and for the effectual development of hiatal hernias. In those with OSA and reflux symptoms, treatment of the OSA may relieve those symptoms.
