Drowsy driving is a challenge to detect. Current and evolving vehicular technology may offer strategies of driver monitoring systems. Pupillometry (measurement in pupil size and movement) and detection of head nods by dashboad cam are options. Detection of microsleep, nodding off for up to 4 second increments sometimes with eyes still open, by a scalp electrode incorporated into a head band, cap or similar is being explored. Utilizing the on board vehicle computer to monitor steering corrective maneuvers, variances in speed, variances in braking, etc are options. I wonder, how might wearables be part of the solution? http://ift.tt/1VMjaZw
